The Lonely Momma

Each night ends the same way, with the terrible habit of scrolling aimlessly through social media. Most nights I spot a picture of moms having a playdate with their group of mom friends. Or even the announcement of a new baby when you long and mourn the baby you might be wishing for.  The jealously starts brewing in my heart. My jealously turns to anger and maybe even hate. Then after a while it turns in a pity party of sheer loneliness.

Motherhood is time of loneliness for most of us. There are times of feelings of being the only soul who sees the empty toilet paper roll, the mountain of laundry and dishes piled in the sink. and the one trudges on while ignoring her self while the babies and husband are sick. Even if you are the lucky few that have a great group of mom friends, things happen such as sick babies, naptimes, or appointments. Even then it's hard to remember who turn it is to host playdate in all the chaos. It is a really difficult time of life to juggle a social life.

There have been times that I have stuck babies in the car seat and just drive for them to take a nap, or just walked up and down the aisle of Target not eve buying anything in hopes of catching a few words of adult conversation. When I catch the glance of a fellow Momma, I long to ask her 20 questions. Are you lonely too? Do we like the same things? Do we share the want for the same things? Do you judge me for wanting to run away for my kids? Wishing for bedtime? My shoeless toddler? My dirty faced baby? Will you be my friend?

I'm not saying that I don't find joy in my children or my husband. I love them with my everything. Sometimes it would just be nice to confide in another mom who sees the same world that I see. Who understands my messy home, dirty laundry, and sick babies. We will live the next five years of our life with two inch new growth, unshaven legs, Legos in our tubs, a car full of yucky milk cups and chicken nuggets. Jealously is loneliness' ugly step sister. When we fill our hearts with jealously toward fellow mommies we are only causing ourselves bitterness, anger, regret, sleepless nights, grumpy days, impatience with our loved ones, grudges, and the ugliest depression.

So I ask you, are  you lonely Momma? It's ok. This is a season of life that we will never be as loved or wanted or needed again. Our babies need our kisses for their owies, snuggles  when they're sick, and someone to read them their bedtime stories. I know one day I will long for these days once again. I will miss the days of them crying every time I leave the room, tripping over toy cows, and the never ending mound of laundry.

I challenge you to put down your phone when you feel the loneliness creep up in your heart, to throw a dance party, have a pillow fight, or have a movie night with the babes. Fill the space of your pre baby social life with baby belly laughs and story times..

I'm not here saying that friendship isn't important. If you have it, cherish it! If you are like me, maybe you're isolated living far out of town. The only  civilization you see on a weekly basis is the grocery store and church. I'm challenging myself to reach out to other moms. This is so out of my comfort zone. I see other mom groups, but I always feel like they have established their relationships and feel in a way like an outsider. I will strike up conversation with other moms, ask for number for planning of playdates or even coffee dates. I know with such things come rejection, but there might be the birth of a new friendship.

. I don't write this for your pity, but instead of reaching out to other mommas who might be feeling the same loneliness. I hope we all can replace our loneliness with belly laughter and sticky kisses.

Labor Day Weekend Look #2

Labor Day Weekend Look #2

Happy Friday everybody! We made it, and it's been a long week! Thankfully we have a three day weekend full of summer's last hoorah festivities. Whether you're going to festivals, a family barbecue, or maybe a day of shopping this is the perfect time to introduce your fall pieces of you haven't already.

It's the last weekend as the fashion law lays down that there is no white after Labor Day. These white skinnies have been a favorite of mine all summer long. They have a classy look yet they're fun and distressed. Nothing screams "American Girl" like a vintage rock n roll tee. This Rolling Stones tee compliments the skinnies to take it from classy to a big edgy. The look escalates even more when you add the wine colored hat and fringed sandals. To top off the look grab your favorite sunnies, nude lipstick, and turquoise earrings. Everyone is still "mad for plaid" this season and my absolute favorite is the buffalo plaid. This cute backpack is perfect to hold all your festival must haves. It also is a cute bag for all you cute college girls.

This is such a cute yet edgy look to perfectly introduce some fall fashion into your look with ease. What are some of your fall pieces you'll be showing off this weekend? What are your plans?

XOXO,

Labor Day Weekend Look #1

Labor Day Weekend Look #1

So because I'm basically a crazy person right now after this week, I totally forgot about it being Labor Day Weekend!! This is the perfect time to introduce some of your favorite fall pieces as this marks the ends of summer. It's the last hoorah, so get outside and hit the lake, barbecue, and the pool for that last time.

This look consist of a super cute, simple, and comfy dress that you can dress up easily. You can introduced your favorite fall booties and it turns this dress from summer to fall. What a nice and easy transition. These booties you saw earlier this week on my fall fashion wish list and I'm loving the gray. It's a different color for me. If you know me I like me some different! You can never go wrong with a vintage squash blossom to elevate your look even more. This simple dress has sky rocketed to elegant. Bring a cute boho vibe hat, sunnies, mustard colored fringe clutch to the mix and you have an A plus in my book! To top of the look it's time to go more dark and dramatic with your makeup. Some deep rich earthy tones for eyes make you a total smoke show. I'm so glad that red lipstick is back out to play in out of my makeup bag. I kept with pinks and fusias all summer, and I'm ready for some drama!

I hope you have enjoyed this double post Thursday! Tomorrow morning I'll be bringing you an All American girl relaxed look!

Hope you have a great evening!

Mother and Daughter Mexican Dresses

I have long time been wanting a Mexican embroidered dress, not quite sure what took me so long! Of coarse my little mini me got one first. I found it at the Ranch Roundup in Wichita Falls last month. How precious is a cherub baby in a Mexican dress? So needless to say I had already ordered mine and was just waiting on it to arrive. All of this taking place inspired me to do a fun little mommy daughter post for y'all today.

I do all my own photography after little man goes down for the night. Tonight he went out early like 6:30 early! Pecos really loves helping me do all the pictures. So I really thought that she eat up tonight. She is almost a "THREENAGER"  therefore she is very unpredictable. You Mommas know what I'm talking about! SO needless to say she wasn't very into  it at first, but as soon as she head gun shots from her daddy dove hunting she was on his trail. Such a daddy's girl....it began  in the womb!

I'm not sure where these dresses have been all my life. I seriously wear this things at least twice a week. It is super cute and incredibly comfy. I've even been guilty of sleeping it it...shhhhh!! Judge away if you like, but I'm totally okay with it lol!

Daughters are such sweet blessings. I remember growing up and just wanting to be a Momma! I had never been so scared as the moment we found out about Pecos Jane. I was 21 and could barely take care of myself much less a precious bundle of joy. That's why God makes pregnancy nine months. It is a time of such growth as a person and as a couple. Those are some precious times with your partner. That early morning of that late October day I learned a whole new type of love. As I watched my husband hold our baby girl and the tears that filled his eyes as he handed her to me I fell in love with him all over in a completely new way. Wow! God is so good!

Watching her grow into the sassy little "THREENANGER" she is there is never a dull moment. Yesterday was her very first day of Wee School. Her teacher sent me a wild faced picture of her. It was seriously the cutest thing I've ever seen. Then she was sent home with a red apple with written on the back "Helped her friends play dress up all day long!" I felt my head get a little big as that was a really proud Momma moment for me. She just might be like her momma a little bit. As if she needed any help with sass she started ballet yesterday. She marched right in there decked out in pink from head to ballet shoe. She was so excited to share with me all the new dance and ballet tricks she had learned. I can't wait to see what this exciting year brings with our little Pecos Jane. I know one thing for sure, and that is that it'll be a wild and fun ride with that girl!

Purchase you matching dresses or even blouse at  Bennet Boutique !

Fall Fashion Wish List

Fall Fashion Wish List

Awe yes, September you are finally here! Here in Texas we are so ready for a break from all the heat. Days are getting shorter and temperatures are slowly dropping. It's officially my favorite time of the yea! I'm ready for football, pumpkins, baby calves, and crockpot dinners. Hallelujah!

Today I'm bringing you my fall fashion wish list. I'm loving that this season is full of trends that easily transition into a great look for western fashion. Military jackets and vest are so hot right now! You can wear this look so many different ways. My favorite way to see it is with simple white shirts and layers of turquoise ! You can easily score one of these great jackets at your local thrift store if you're looking for a more inexpensive option. That's where I got mine a few years back.

Plaid is still blazing the runways this season as well. Pendleton has the most gorgeous buffalo plaid jacket. I believe that this piece is well worth it's price and I view it as an investment piece. These jackets will last you a lifetime, and their look is absolutely timeless. I feel their worth gets greater as they age. I'm a lover of anything vintage!

Fringe is staple in the western fashion world. I'm a huge fan! I love seeing it on jackets, purses, booties galore! I absolutely adore the fringes booties I already have, but you know you can never have too much fringe! I love the gray color and would be a new color in my closet. This Rebecca Minkoff fringe bag is to die for! I've had my eye on this beauty for a while. Maybe if I'm extra good Santa will bring it to me!

These black distressed skinnies I have adored on Katey McFarland for months. She can dress them up with a flowy blouse and heels or have a more relaxed look with a great tee and booties. They can be worn multiple times a week never looking the same!

I'm always looking to add some new turquoise to my collection any time of the year! And fall colors in my beauty collection are always welcome! I'm sure we will more inspiration for makeup looks this fall from Lauren very soon!

What are some of your fall fashion wish list pieces? What are some of your favorite looks this fall?

XOXO,

Living Room Inspiration

Untitled #29

Good afternoon everyone!! It's been a crazy last few days at our house, but we are now home and resting. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes for our little man. He is on the road to recovery.

We moved into the ranch house almost two years ago, and it still a work in progress. I've redone Taos', Pecos', and almost finished ours, and now I'm starting on our family room.

My dad had everything repainted stark white. If you know me then you know I need color in my life. I have gone back I forth on what color to paint our living room, but I think I've finally decided on a beautiful navy blue. We have French doors out to the pool and two large windows so there's plenty of light to compliment the dark walls.

Cowhide everything is always a win in my book. With Taos' allergies we might have to skimp over the rug due to dish and allergens. We have a large L shaped couch and I absolutely love throw pillows. They can take your room from a 2 to a 10  in just a few moments. I have deer skulls scattered throughout the house, and I thought that mixing in a awesome cow skull would be fun!

What are some of your favorite inspirations when it comes to redecorating? What are your favorite pieces in your living rooms? I would love to hear from you.

XOXO,
