Let it Go Momma!! Pecos Jane Fashion

I know what you're thinking, double post Friday?? Yes, but this time I'm bringing to you my much cuter mini me. This is my beautiful two year old daughter Pecos Jane. Yup, the one who made me Momma. The one who stole my heart on an early October morning. The one who brought me to tears over the love that my heart burst with as me and her daddy ewwed and awed over her sheer existence. Jesus did bless us that morning, but we had no idea of the wonderful blessings that were to come from this tiny human. The first year of Pecos' life Cameron was gone weeks at a time day working making a wonderful life for us. She became my one and only best friend. She never napped, and Cameron teases me it's because I wouldn't let her because I needed my bestie 24/7. Looking back I do believe there may have been some truth to that.

Last October when we officially moved back to the Switch House we celebrated her first birthday and just a few days later found out we were expecting another baby. Oh dang, is all that ran through my head. We lived in a tiny one roomed bunkhouse, but daddy was home every night. Life was good, but I was so scared of how we would raise two babies under two in a one roomed bunk house. Let me tell you friends, our God always provides! In January my generous father let us move into the house that I grew up in. Talk about a huge blessing!

As the month went by we prepared a one year as much as one can to become a big sister. Let me tell you she totally rocks in the big sister department. From the moment she laid eyes on Taos she has been so loving and protective. She still doesn't like it when someone is holding him and starts to walk away. She says hey that's my bubba!

In September Taos was admitted to the hospital and was diagnosed with constructive airway disease. This has been a constant battle of brochilitus. With a newborn and the stress of the constant sickness I was over come with fear of every little thing. I began to suffer from post partum anxiety. I would literally go days without sleep laying there hearing every bump and creak  possible and rushing multiple times to check to see if the kids were still in their beds. I was completely paranoid. This became an issue for me.  Through prayer and scripture I have found peace with things. I have finally returned to my free spirited self. Thank you Lord!

So, that being said the kids have been sick the past two weeks and we haven't got to enjoy the snow. After all morning of Pecos adorablely staring out the window saying "It's snowing, Mama!', I gave in! So we went up stairs and I said get yourself dressed, and then let her go to my closet to pick something out. She is girl after my own heart, because she picked my favorite fur vest. It is so much fun to just let go and let her be creative. It is a little scary how much she reminds me of myself. From the dress tutu flower leggings and pink mud boots, it just melts my heart! I just had to share these pictures. There are days my house is a complete bomb explosion, kids are sick, there's baby food all over the table, and dishes in the sink. I have learned to let go and enjoy these days with my babies. This is the last day they will ever be as little as they are today. I live by this sentence with my kids. I catch myself wishing for the next stage in life, and then I wake up. Bless my husband's heart, I'm already asking for another baby when Pecos starts kindergarten. I never knew I was such a motherly person till I became a mom!

So I encourage you Momma, just let it go!! Yes Elsa style!! I find when I just let go and put away my eyes that pick apart my home and my laptop and computer, and embrace "making messies" as Pecos says and cuddling those babes life is so much sweeter!! Enjoy you snow day with you babies!!

Good snowy Friday morning!! Boy it just started coming down here at my house and it's coming down hard and heavy! I hope you and yours are home and staying warm. I sent my poor husband out the door at 5;30 to go help one of his friend's ship cattle. I feel so sorry for him. I'm thinking a big pot of chili will be happening at out house today!

Today's look is a perfect one to welcome spring. I love this tank embroidered with a  Thunderbird. It is made of a soft lightweight tshirt material. It makes for a great spring tank to be layered with a great denim coat or summer tank all on its own. This denim jacket has got to be my most favorite one I've ever owned. It is great for pairing with faux fur or working out on the ranch. I wore it last week when we branded and it kept me super warm paired along with my favorite serape infinity scarf. This spring denim is in. This look kinda gives the "Canadian tuxedo" vibe. Be on the look out for rompers made of total denim and pairing denim on denim. This is a great trend for people of our taste, cowboy lifestyle! You can never go wrong with topping the look of with a great pair of fringe booties and a vintage clutch. Again here we see the large floral print. This clutch belonged to my grandmother. I'm so glad that fashion at times is a big oh loop. This is why I'm a firm believer in never throwing anything out { when it comes to my closet }

Stay warm and have a great weekend!

Life Lately Closet Confessionals

It's late as usual and I have a few fashion confessions to make to y'all! I'm here to come clean with you about the items in my wardrobe I've been abusing the past month. Sometimes I like to sit on the floor in my closet and think over life. So  tonight as I sat in it staring at the selection of clothing it became a confessional.  I get in these crazy creativity whirlwinds from time to time and love to see how many different looks I can create with what's in my closet. I love blogging, but at times it can get expensive with the feeling that I must give y'all something new each post. I know that most of y'all out there are mommas just like me that have a budget. A cowboy and a hairdresser/stay at home momma have a tight budget well pretty much every month. I know you feel me out there sisters! Sometimes my husband looks at me in sheer anger when I sob about having nothing to wear, when that is not the case at all. I might just be noticing those few extra pounds of baby weight I have still left to shred that day We all have those days and I honestly might have them more than I would like to admit to y'all.

I have created this funky fun look for y'all literally in about two minutes of rummaging through the closet picking up things I've been wearing the heck outta this past month. I love fur. I love stripes, I love washed out skinnies. I love to armparty { the only kinda party I do here lately } And we would all be lying { well maybe just me } but I eat way too much pizza { because I've been on a cooking strike, just ask my husband } and I love my "Gimme Pizza" WildFox tee. And I love to revamp my favorite pieces and give them new life.

Sometimes some of my favorite outfits come together in a whirl of frantically looking through your closet. I even practiced some layering from my previous post of transcending from winter to spring with your look.  I'm embracing my own tips, as I have an appointment tomorrow to get me a new summer look. I'm embarrassed to say the last time I actually got my own hair done was right after Thanksgiving! Hello new growth!

I actually have added a couple new things to my closet this week that I wanted to share with you.

 I am totally in love with Chloe and Isabel. I wear these bangles everyday!! They have so many wonderful  collections that range from Retro Vintage to Desert Bloom. They have something for everyone!! Take a look HERE

Also I have seen everyone rockin the  leopard fold over clutch from Revolving Clothing. I love this awesome clutch that can double as a purse just by snapping on the strap.

5 Tips for Transcending Your Look from Winter to Spring

I know we are all so tired of the cold, and in some areas of Texas the worse is yet to come in the days ahead. Ice and snow storms are sweeping the state. I have been cooped up with two babes with colds the past couple days, and I'm longing for sunshine! I decided instead of whining about the dreary cold, chapped lips and faces, and dry skin that I'm going to bring you five tips for transcending your style from winter to spring!

1} Kiss Winter Goodbye!

All the lovely pastel and bright colors that come along with the rain  and breezes of spring don't just have a place in our wardrobes. I'm a big fan of colored lips. Coral, pink, or a peachy lip color will help you move from frigid to firey in just a few swipes! Also don't forget to pair your lips with shimmery shadows that will guide your toward the sunlight of cut offs and tank tops!

I have been adoring this shade on a favorite blogger of mine and purchased it for myself to transcend on out of this wintery funk I'm in! Purchase HERE

2} Add Some Prints

This winter has been full of one major print and that is plaid. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of the plaidness, but I love change! This spring it's all about the large print floral and plaid is still in but it is more of a picnic tablecloth print. This splash of print can come from any direction, just be your own rainbow. You could pick a scarf, funky vest, or even as pictured above a great kimono. This is what is so wonderful about finding you own unique personal style is that you can do pretty much anything you want! Don't be scared. Wear it and wear it proudly!

3} Dip into Some Color

Nothing breaks a drab mood like a fresh breath of some color! Take a hint from the rays of sunshine that surround you as they break through those gray clouds. You can incorporate this in your sweaters and coats as a way of saying "it may be cold right now, but not for long!'

4} Get Your Summer Do

It's time to put the beanies out to pasture and focus on that gorgeous mane of your's! It's time for a fun change for the summer. I myself have been searching pinterest like a maniac looking for that perfect summer color. I've had all I can stand of the dark haired world. I'm ready to put a little blonde back into my world for the first time in a couple years. I challenge you to go out on a limb and try a new style, cut, or color. It just  might the thing you have been needing to get you broke out of those wintery blues. I have done ombre, but I'm wanting to do a more dramatic look than ever before, I love how the girl pictured above starts out dark at the root and transcends perfectly into a gorgeous light blonde.

5} Go Light on the Layers

There is no need to lug around a heavy coat on those in between weather type days. Try light cotton toppers, sheer kimonos,  or maybe even a blazer. You can choose your own poison. The fun thing about this is that you can layer as much or as little as needed. As the day goes and temperature rises you can peel the layers off as needed. My only advice is to keep the black in your closet. This is the perfect opportunity to incorporate that pop of color or prints.

I hope yall are staying warm, and just know we are on the downward slide toward sunshine and warmer weather!! I hope these few tips are helpful in transcending with grace from winter to spring. With this Texas weather this could be a weekly thing!

 Jordan

Texas Sized Florals

Kimono || Dillards

Dress || old but similar here HERE

As I sit here  and listen to that frozen mess hit the tin roof I long for spring and the warm sun on my shoulders. This spring there are so many wonderful trends and this outfit highlights a few of them. WHITE ( yes all of us mom just cringed ) is huge this coming season. So all you newly engaged ladies are going to love what has been hitting the runway. Also fringe is still going strong. It's huge in the kimonos, dresses, shirts, boots, and handbags. That is a huge plus for all of us leather goods lovers. Floral has always been a spring trend, but this year it LARGE floral prints. Finally everyone is listening to us Texans, everything is bigger in Texas.

This would be great look for Easter, your bridal shower, engagement party, or just church. I love this dress so much! It is beautiful all on its own and you can jazz it up pretty much with anything you might like. It has a great flowy feel with beautiful lave on each layer down the dress. You can wear it off the shoulders, on your shoulders, or even strapless.  I have been drooling over kimonos but never have broke down and purchases one for myself. When I saw this one in particular my niece talked me into buying it with the famous words of Leigh Anne Tuohy  backwards "if you absolutely love it in the store, you'll absolutely love it in your closet." I loved it so much I wore it today to church. I'm sure you noticed that is you follow me on Instagram.

Stay tuned for the winner of the gorgeous clutch y'all have been drooling over all week!

XOXO,
 Jordan

A Campin' We Will Go!

Tank || The Rollin' J

Plaid Jacket || from Livin' the Dream similar HERE

Denim || Old Navy

Lunch Tote || Natural Life

Hey y'all it's hump day!!! We've made it half way through the week, and you're so rockin it sister!! Today's look is inspired by the plaid madness we live in today and the fact that I can't say no to any of the cute little Girl Scouts and their darn cookies!! If you're friends with me on facebook then I'm sure you spied as my husband did in the picture of DJ Taos the empty box of Samoas....so busted!!! They're just so delicious and the little girls are equally as cute, I just can't seem to say NO!! All of this being said it makes me want to go on a hike or camping trip. Cameron and I just last night were giggling about the time we slept outside under the stars { literally } in sleeping bags. It was so cold, and this was my very first camping trip { yes I saw your jaw drop }. Needless to say we did not make the night and grabbed his little sister and barged through the living quarters trailer door.

This outfit is perfect for any camping trip or hike no matter the weather. You can wear the "I'm a Happy Camper" tank by itself on those warm days or layer it with a fun plaid jacket for the brisker days. Plaid has taken the fashion world by storm this Fall/Winter and it's looking like it will be sticking around this Spring. It's looking like we are going to be having a few more of those before we get to meet Spring. I have paired one of my fave tanks for this coming spring from The Rollin' J with my absolute favorite skinnies. They fit me just right, and that is saying a lot especially after having two babies. Everyone gets a little hungry on their hike and needs a super cute lunch tote to carry your trail mix, granola, or maybe in my case Samaos in. I'm not real crunchy....I love my sweets way too much!

Please don't forget the giveaway this week of the Guatemalan Chi Chi clutch going one! Enter today!!

Welcome to the Arm Party Chloe and Isabel

watch || Michael Kors

Tear Drop Bangle || Loren Hope

Hexagon Bangles || Chloe and Isabel

Jingle jangle, you can hear me a coming from miles away!!! I grew up keeping track of my mother this way by the clank of her bracelets and keeping up with my dad by the sound of his Spurs as he walked.  I come by my love for tons of bracelets honestly as it was bred into me.

Just a few weeks ago a sweet friend of mine BriElle contacted me about Chloe and Isabel. She sent me some info and her website and I fell instantly in love!! They have great jewelry that is very unique and for a great price. I absolutely adore these hexagon bangles encrusted with beautiful rhinestones. A little clink and sparkle you ask, why yes ma'am!! These bangles really tie my arm party together in this look with my favorite Michael Kors watch, anchor bracelet, and Loren Hope cuff. Also don't be scared to mix silver and gold in your party. I used to be a complete stickler about this, but with children I firmly believe you learn to let go even more in life. As if I needed any help in this area of my life.

I strongly encourage you to visit the Chloe and  Isabel link above and take a look around at all collections!! If you purchase please be sure to enter BriElle as your stylist! Click HERE to shop!! I wanted to put together a wish list but it would be unending!! Follow me on Instagram @westernhomestead for looks at what I'm lusting over!!

Beanie || Livin' the Dream

Denim Jacket || Riff Raff

Faux Fur Vest || Riff Raff

Denim || Target

Cheetah Wedges || Southern Jewlz

Good Monday morning loveis!!! Just as we were getting spoiled by the 80 degree weather last week here comes cold weather rushing on in!! In hopes of cheering y'all up with a double case of blah on account of the weather and yet again it's Monday, I'm bringing you a fun look of denim and fur. Also a little pattern mixing never put a damper on my day! It's time to strap on some leopard and get your sass on this Monday morning and rock it sista!!

 I think that there is no other love like finding the perfect denim jacket. I honestly have been looking all winter long, and I didn't spot this beaut till a couple weeks ago. I love the washed out color and the sheer fact that it isn't fitted at all. It's great for layer { y'all know it's my fave} When you take the perfect denim and add fur one can only lust over a look like this. This faux fur vest from Riff Raff has been something from my closet that has been used A LOT!! It has a great fit { also bought a size up } and that helps with the fit of layering over my favorite coats. As I'm sure you remember how great it looked over my thrift store army coat. My skinnies are my favorite pair I own...well maybe they come second to my faithful Old Navy's. I'm a total sucker for the distressed look and the comments from the cute little old men and ladies asking me if I have been working hard. Well of course I have been!! Again I say to you, what is an outfit without a little pattern mixing? My cheetah wedges are such a great way to top off the look. I think they are quite popular as I could not find them on Southern Jewlz website for our  shopping links today. Be sure to follow them on Instagram to keep up with restocks on the wedges along with following Livin' the Dream Boutique to find their super cute beanie featured in today's look.

By the way y'all I'm sipping on some Lemon Chiffon hot tea I picked up at the grocery store last week. It is absolutely to die for!! I became I huge hot tea fan while I was pregnant with Taos when I was introduced to pregnancy tea. My cabinet is full of passion tea, nighty night tea, and green tea just to name a few.

Also,  DO NOT FORGET about our getaway going on this week!! ENTER IT...NOW!!!!

XOXO,

Simply Valentines Outfit

Striped Top || Shop Riff Raff

Skinnies || Vera Wang

Fringe Moccasin Booties || Target

Ok, so yes I am that mom who decides it'll be super fun to coordinate for the second year in a row a Valentine party for Pecos and her buds. I do love entertaining, yet I'm a huge procrastinator. Especially today after spending the day with the husband helping do "ranch" stuff and other errands. So here I am hustling and bustling trying to get things done like cleaning and decorating tonight. The excitement from Pecos is worth every second of scurrying about.

So without further ado I bring to you { I'm a poet and don't know it} a fun, simple, and flexible outfit. I love stripes and with Valentines this weekend I thought the splash of red would be nice. This shirt is amazingly comfortable and soft. I love the fun accent of the elbow faux leather patches. This shirt is perfect for just a day to the grocery store or to church. I've paired it with my favorite jeggings. But don't freak when you see the brand. Keep breathing sister!! You can score these wonderful things at Kohl's for a great price. And as you know you can never  go wrong with a great pair of fringe moccasins. This outfit is super cute and super inexpensive.

I promise a post Saturday recapping tomorrow's Valentines party. Also I'm sure you have seen my favorite Chi Chi clutch in previous post. Well guess what? I thinking next week we just might have to have a giveaway for one, as I see they are completely sold out on The Rollin' J's website. Stayed tuned next week to see how you might be the lucky winner!!

XOXO,

Jordan
